INITIAL (No or expired card), 0900 to 1500, Roybal/Clifton Campus, Building 20, Lifestyle Fitness Center Conference Room
  • Tuesday, August 11
  • Tuesday, August 20

These courses are being provided exclusively for Atlanta CDC/ATSDR based Commissioned Corps Officers to help them meet deployment readiness policy requirements. Priority enrollment will be given for active duty officers who need to obtain BLS certification to meet basic standards for readiness. Officers who are assigned to other agencies or outside the Atlanta area may wish to visit the the Office of Commissioned Corps Personnel (OCCP) website or contact OCCP staff at 770.488.1743.

Course Description: The Course is designed to teach the skills of CPR for victims of all ages (adult and pediatric) including ventilation with a barrier device, bag-mask ventilation, use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and relief of foreign-body airway obstruction for the responsive and unresponsive victim.

The RENEWAL Course is for those persons whose certification is current. This is a shorter and faster paced course. Participants must provide a copy of their current card faxed to the Lifestyle Office (404.639.4075) as soon as they register for a course. However, if you have taken the course through the Lifestyle Program, we can look up your certification date up in our database to confirm your current card. AHA certifications are for 2 years so check your card for your last certification date!

Registration Procedures
  1. E-mail the Lifestyle Program life@cdc.gov with:
    • Your name
    • Your work phone and CDC Mailstop
    • If you are registering for a “RENEWAL” course, you must fax (404.639.4075) a copy of your card or let us know what class you took with Lifestyle (if appropriate) for us to look up your information.
  2. The Lifestyle Program Office will e-mail you back with confirmation or waiting list information. (For a renewal course we will e-mail you with confirmation once we’ve confirmed your “current” status.)
  3. Approximately 2 days before the course, participants will receive PRE-Course Instructions by e-mail (this e-mail will contain directions and information on what to bring to class). Please make sure that when you sign up for a course, you write or put it on your own calendar! Don’t wait for us to remind you of the date that you signed up for. It is very important that you let us know if you aren’t going to be able to attend a course so that we can add someone that might be on the waiting list!
If you have any questions, please call Terri Thompson, Lifestyle CPR Program Coordinator, at 404.639.2164.
